LEWISTON — More than 400 individuals gathered for the 2012 Hospice House 5K and Remembrance Walk in Auburn, Oxford and Farmington to remember a loved one and help raise funds to support patient care at the Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice-Hospice House. The event raised $23,000 dedicated to the Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice KMW Fund which supports care at the Hospice House for patients with limited health insurance.
This year organizers implemented an online giving tool for registrants which enabled them to set up a personal donation page that they could share with family and friends to help raise money for the event.
Recognition was given to the top individual fundraiser. For the second year in a row that honor went to Sister Christine Plouffe, who has been a hospice volunteer for Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice since 2010. She enjoys participating in this event not only because it is for a good cause but it also is great exercise.
Planning is well underway for next year’s event.
