MEXICO — Three more vehicle thefts have occurred in the past week, adding to the more than 20 reported in the past few weeks.

Lt. Roy Hodsdon said the latest burglaries happened Oct. 12 and 13 on Carlton Avenue, Brown Street and Dix Avenue. A DVD player and a wallet were stolen and damage done to the dashboard of one vehicle.

Hodsdon warned people to lock their vehicles.

Among the 42 incidents reported in the past week were:

Arrest

* Russell Waugh, 19, Orchard Street, Mexico, failure to pay fines, 11:13 a.m. Oct. 14 at his home. Waugh was released from the Police Department on $250 cash bail. He is scheduled to appear in 11th District Court in Rumford on Nov. 6.

Thefts

* A Backkingdom Road resident reported at 9:57 a.m. Oct. 18 that someone had taken a Colt .380-caliber handgun valued at $600 from his home.

* An employee of the Maine Smoke Shop reported two thefts of cigarettes on Oct. 14 and 15.

Vandalism

* A Roxbury Road resident reported at 12:09 p.m. Oct. 13 that someone damaged her fence the night before. Damage was estimated at $200.
