NORWAY — A Woodstock man was listed in fair condition Thursday night at a Lewiston hospital, a day after his dump truck overturned on Route 118.
Norway police Detective Gary Hill said Donald Mason, 62, of Woodstock was driving south when a minivan driven by 49-year-old Heidi Bullock of Otisfield came onto the highway from Country Club Road and hit the side of his 1998 Volvo dump truck. Hill said Thursday that he had not interviewed Mason, but it appears he tried to avoid a collision, which caused the truck to overturn.
Mason was flown to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston where a nursing supervisor said he was in fair condition Thursday night.
Bullock and her four passengers, Heather Nurmi, 26, of Otisfield and three juveniles minors, did not need to be taken to a hospital, Hill said.
Mason’s truck was destroyed, as was the front of the 2007 Toyota Sienna minivan. The sign for First Church of Christ, Scientist was damaged in the 9:40 a.m. crash.
Hill said the crash is still under investigation. The Norway Fire Department, PACE ambulance and DART medical helicopter from Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, N.H., responded to the scene.
