BETHEL — The White Mountain National Forest Service is continuing to advise against visiting the forest as employees assess the effects of Hurricane Sandy on roads, bridges and other areas.

“Water levels in side streams and major rivers continue to run high and near flood stages,” Tiffany Benna, WMNF spokeswoman, said Wednesday in a news release. “Gusts continue to bring down branches and trees. Extreme caution should be used.”

She said some roads and sites remained closed Wednesday. “There may be additional closures due to safety as employees assess impacts of the storm,” she said.
