Democrat Christine Powers of Naples defeated Republican Laurie Mondville of Casco, 2,477 to 2,371, for House District 101 on Tuesdaty.
Both candidates sought to replace outgoing Rep. Richard Cebra, R-Naples.
Mondville campaigned on a platform of “smaller government, reducing taxes, reducing regulation, removing the waste, fraud and abuse in the welfare system, protecting our environment with sound business and eco-friendly policy, and working toward making our schools the strongest in the nation.”
Powers, who is director of the Naples Public Library and serves on the Board of Selectmen, campaigned on a platform of political experience and a pledge to work on infrastructure improvements, a stronger digital infrastructure with broadband access and attracting more business to Maine.
Powers was a Clean Election candidate; Mondville did not use Clean Election funds.
