AUGUSTA (AP) — The newly elected Republican Maine state senators have chosen their floor leaders for the upcoming two-year session.

Senators-elect on Friday elected Sen. Michael Thibodeau of Winterport to be minority leader and Sen. Roger Katz of Augusta as assistant minority leader. There was no opposition to either candidate.

Republicans lost their Senate and House majorities in this week’s elections.

Additional votes are expected next week to pick both two parties’ Senate and House leadership teams for the 2013-14 session, which begins Dec. 5.
