HEBRON — The third-ranked Hebron Academy boys’ soccer team defeated sixth-ranked Berwick Academy Wednesday in penalty kicks in a playoff game Wednesday.
Seniors Ibrahim Moustapher and Matthew Bouchard scored in regulation. Sophomore keeper Myles Horn recorded nine saves in net and blocked one penalty shot to clinch Hebron’s spot in the semifinal.
Hebron (11-2-3) will advance to the New England Preparatory School Athletic Council (NEPSAC) Class C semifinal against Beaver Country Day School (18-2-1) (Brookline, Mass.) on Saturday, Nov. 17 at a neutral site.
The Lumberjacks defeated Hyde School last weekend to win the Maine Association of Independent School Athletic Directors (MAISAD) league title.
Hebron seniors Dallas Donovan (co-captain), Jerry Marinho and junior co-captain Marco Kloster of were named (NEPSSA) All-Stars and will play for the East Teams on Sunday, Nov. 18 at the Middlesex School in Concord, Mass.

CMCC 93, UMA 59
AUGUSTA — Susie French poured in 27 points and hit three 3-pointers as Central Maine Community College rolled to a 93-49 victory over the University of Maine at Augusta in a women’s basketball game Wednesay night.
The Mustangs has the game firmly in hand by halftime with a 52-32 lead.
Maggie Savine scored 14 points and teammate Danielle McCusker added 13.
For UMA, Coreinne Dingley scored the team-high 18 points.
Men’s basketball
CMCC 109, UMA70
AUGUSTA — Ismail Rios tossed in the game-high 29 points as Central Maine Community College walked all over the University of Maine at Augusta, 109-70, in a men’s basketball game Wednesday night.
The Mustangs enjoyed a comfortable 58-36 lead at halftime.
Jalen Lincoln scored 20 points and teammate Justin Cocroft added 12 for CMCC. Walker Cooper nailed down the team-high 28 points for UMA.
Holy Cross 57, Maine 54
WORCESTER, Mass. — The University of Maine men’s basketball team dropped a 57-54 decision to Holy Cross on Wednesday night. Alasdair Fraser led the way for the Black Bears with 21 points and 15 rebounds.
Holy Cross jumped out to a 8-4 lead, but five straight points by Fraser gave Maine a 9-8 lead with just under 12 minutes to play in the first half.
Maine used a 16-2 run midway through the first half to extend its lead to 20-10 with 6:25 remaining.

Maine receives six letters of intent
ORONO — University of Maine head baseball coach Steve Trimper announced today that his program has received six National Letters of Intent for his 2013 recruiting class. This class will add both quality and depth to his already talented team.
The six players included: Anthony Capuano of Bangor; Patrick Coughlin of Galt Collegiate Institute; Jeff Gelinas of Thornton Academy; Joe Kinee of Goretti High School, Pennsylvania; Skylar Mercado of Archbishop Stepinec H.S. (Bronx, N.Y.); and Jake Osborne of Nelson High School (Burlington, Ontario).
