FARMINGTON — The Mt. Blue High School Boys’ Soccer Team received the Sportsmanship Award from the Maine Principals’ Association, Leanne Condon, RSU 9 director of curriculum, instruction and assessment announced Thursday.

It is just one of several accomplishments of students announced at the school board’s meeting.

Condon also informed directors that she would bring a proposal for a new copier.

“We have a very highly used copier at the Mallett School,” she said.

All of the district’s copiers are five years old or older. She will be discussing copier leases and copiers at the 7 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 27, board meeting at the Mt. Blue Middle School.

There are also four printers that are 11 years old, Condon said.

The person who fixes them said he couldn’t keep coming back every day to do so, she said.

District Technology Manager Darcy Dunphy gave the board an update on technology. She said the district has earned more than $380,000 over the past year through the federal e-rate program.

It is based on free-reduced lunch rates.

“It allowed us to do a complete (technology) upgrade of
the Cascade Brook School network and the Mt. Blue Middle School
network, as well as helping with the high school project,” Dunphy said Monday.

“We have to spend the money for the upgrades upfront, then we get reimbursed a percentage based on the school’s free-reduced numbers,” she said.
