DIXFIELD — The Dixfield American Legion Post 100 will be hosting a spaghetti dinner and silent auction on Sunday, Nov. 25, to benefit a local resident.
Dawn Wing, the president of the Dixfield American Legion auxiliary, is organizing the dinner and auction to raise money to help pay for the hospital bills accrued while her mother, Charlene Voter-Wing, was in the hospital.
“She was hospitalized with kidney stones, and one of them created a blockage,” Wing said. “It caused a deadly infection, which put her in a coma for awhile. I thought this event might help out with her medical bills.”
The tickets for the dinner, which begins at 5 p.m., are $5. Wing said that she will be cooking the spaghetti by herself.
“A lot of friends have come together to help me get it going, but it’s pretty much me going solo,” Wing said.
The Dixfield American Legion allowed Wing to host the dinner and auction in the building free of charge. As for the silent auction, Wing said that she’s arranged for more than 70 items to be auctioned off, including gift certificates and items that people have donated.
“One person even donated a gift certificate for $100 to an ink store,” Wing said.
Wing said the tickets are three for $1, six tickets for $5 and 12 tickets for $10.
