Donna Male of Auburn talks to Animal Control Officer Wendell Strout about a Canada goose that she is concerned about at the public boat launch on North River Road in Auburn on Wednesday. “I have been keeping my eye on this pair for a while and knew something was wrong because geese should have flown South by now,” Male said. She called the Maine Warden Service when she noticed one of the geese having a tough time breathing. Strout stopped to check on the goose, and told Male that it appeared to be fine. Male said she will keep an eye on the goose over the next few days. “If it’s not eating, I’m gonna catch it,” she said. Strout said he has seen geese winter in Maine. “If there is a food source, it’s not uncommon for geese to stick around,” he said.
