LEWISTON — A local woman was hospitalized Wednesday after she suffered a medical problem after taking cocaine at a Prospect Avenue home, police said.
Police said officers who went to 104 Prospect Ave. just before 3 a.m. found evidence of drug use in the house and they arrested the man suspected of providing them.
Paul Michaud, 47, of that address, was charged with aggravated trafficking and aggravating furnishing in scheduled drugs. He was taken to the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn where he was being held on $100,000.
Police did not identify the victim. The woman, believed to be in her 30s, remained at a Lewiston hospital Wednesday night.
Police and rescue crews were sent to the home after emergency dispatchers received a call reporting that a woman had collapsed inside the house.
The officers who responded saw signs of drug use in the home, police said. They called for assistance from the Maine Drug Enforcement Agency as well as Lewiston’s Criminal Investigation Division.
The house was searched, police said, and more drugs were found. Michaud is expected to make a court appearance later in the week.
Prospect Avenue runs off Lisbon Street across from Acadia Avenue.
