WILTON — Santa comes to town Friday night to join residents in a community tree-lighting and caroling.
The Wilton Winter Wonderland begins with a cocoa social at 5 p.m. Friday at KeyBank. From there, participants move outside for caroling around the tree next to the monument at 5:30 p.m., followed by lighting the tree from Black Acre Farms and donated by Russell Black.
Santa heads for Damon Photography for photos from 6 to 7 p.m., said Stacey Damon, a member of the Wilton Events Committee that organized the event.
The Wilton Free Public Library will offer face-painting and holiday crafts for the hour after the caroling, she added.
Everyone is welcome to the events.
The committee also planned a Christmas tree display, which is now set up on Main Street across from Wilton Hardware Store. Businesses have purchased the trees and will provide lighting before Friday. The trees will be on display until Dec. 15, she said.
Decorations are also provided and will be delivered with the tree to local families by Care and Comfort.
Boy Scout Troop 518 has sold memory wreaths for downtown lampposts. Celebrating their 100th year, the troop has some wreaths still available. For more information, call Ray Jacques at the Wilton Hardware Store, 645-2266.
