WILTON — Police are investigating the theft of copper pipes valued at approximately $800 from a home on Route 133 last week.

A caller reported a vehicle was at the foreclosed home, which is for sale, and none should be there, Chief of Police Heidi Wilcox said.

An officer went to the home and saw a van.  Before he could confirm whether anyone was suppose to be there, the real estate agent reported the copper pipes were gone.

In other incidents this week, police checked properties on Chretien Lane near Pease Pond after a homeowner reported items missing, she said.

A truck ramp and Stanley sawhorses valued at approximately $350 were taken from a property there Wednesday, she said.

The property owner checked on a nearby camp, also listed for sale, and thought some materials, including copper, were taken, but police learned repair work was being done, she said.

Police are also investigating the theft of a laptop computer valued at $500 from a Main Street apartment Thursday. The tenant went out for a few hours and returned to find the laptop gone. The tenant was not sure how someone got in to the apartment but nothing else was taken, Wilcox said.
