RUMFORD — The hospital auxiliary is hosting its annual pre-holiday jewelry sale Monday and Tuesday, Dec. 3 and 4, at the hospital.

Jane Bubar, director of Community Relations and Development at the hospital, said the sale will take place in Conference Room A on the ground floor. Hours Monday are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.; Tuesday, 7 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Bubar said there will be items for sale other than jewelry.

“There’s also going to be scarves, watches, little purses and belts,” Bubar said. “Sometimes, there are blouses for sale.”

Regular sale items will be priced from $2 to $10. “Slightly more expensive jewelry,” will still be “below normal retail prices,” she said.

The sale was started about three years ago, Bubar said.

“The auxiliary itself brainstormed the idea for a jewelry sale,” Bubar said. “We get a company from Vermont that sells jewelry to come up for these auxiliary events and sell their merchandise for cheap.”

The proceeds benefit the hospital.

After the Rumford Hospital sale, the company will go to Central Maine Medical Center in Lewiston.

Bubar said that the Rumford Hospital auxiliary has several other events planned for the new year.

“Around Valentine’s Day, we do an in-hospital ‘sweet sale,’ where we sell a lot of cookies and candy,” Bubar said. “We also have another jewelry sale right before Mother’s Day. Our biggest event is our yard sale the week before Memorial Day.”
