PARIS — The old Paris Fire Station on Pine Street may have a buyer.
Following an executive session Tuesday night, selectmen authorized Town Manager Amy Bernard to negotiate its sale with Sandra and Terry Swett, Selectman Robert Kirchherr said Wednesday.
The Swetts own Swett Signs, a sign and design company based in Bridgton.
According to Board of Selectmen Chairman Sam Elliot, the couple offered $25,000 for the building and plan to inspect it.
The fate of the former fire station has been up for debate since 2003, when the town completed the new station on Western Avenue. Last year, the board voted to sell the building after deciding against using it for storage or demolishing it.
In May, Devlin Longley of Moody Brook Road offered $15,141. The board unanimously rejected the offer. At the time, former Town Manager Phil Tarr estimated the building was worth $50,000.
