FARMINGTON – Sheriff Dennis Pike surprised Chief Deputy Raymond Meldrum on Tuesday with a plaque recognizing for his 35 years of dedication to the people of Franklin County.

Pike presented the plaque during the county commissioners meeting.

Meldrum has served as chief deputy under Pike for 12 years.

“It was probably one of the better decisions I made during my tenure,” Pike said.

Meldrum said Pike caught him off guard with the recognition.

Pike’s and Meldrum’s duties end on Dec. 31.
