MEXICO – A Rumford man was driving north on Veterans Bridge in Mexico Monday evening when his truck and another vehicle collided on River Road.

Robert Dayon, 81, told Mexico police he was attempting to make a left turn onto River Road, and while trying to turn, his GMC pickup began sliding and wouldn’t stop. His truck hit a Chevrolet being driven west on River Road by Gary French, 33, of Noridgewock. 

Neither driver was injured. Dayon’s GMC received damage to the front, while French’s vehicle had damage to the front of the passenger side.

In other news, the Mexico Police Department received 43 complaints over the last week.  Among them were:

Thefts

* At 1:23 p.m. Dec. 16, the Blue Moose General Store on River Road reported a burglary to police. A list of stolen items is forthcoming.  Police have no suspects.

* A River Road business reported Dec. 14 that a week before someone stole 150 gallons of diesel fuel from their property. The value is estimated at well over $600. Police have suspects.

*A Granite Street resident reported at 6:15 p.m. Dec. 13 that somebody stole the LED lights from her front yard.  The lights cost $50 to replace.  Police have no suspects.
