GREENWOOD – Mt. Abram Ski Resort will host its annual Full Moon Hike Saturday, Dec. 29, according to general manager Kevin Rosenberg.

It begins at 5:30 p.m. at the base of the mountain and is an “excellent” event that allows ski and snowboard lovers to “hang out, have some snacks and share stories with each other,” he said.

“We take off from the base around 5:30 and hike to the top,” Rosenberg said. “It’s about an hour-and-10-minute hike, on average.  We actually transport any gear up to the summit. The best part is that it’s free.” He said if anybody requires additional gear to be brought to the summit, there will be a charge of $5 to cover gas expenses.

Rosenberg said it’s “a great way to check out the mountain” and during the hike, “the full moon is beautiful.”

After the hike, that those who brought their gear can ski or snowboard down the slope to the Loose Boots Lounge, where they can enjoy entertainment by DJ Kool V, he said.

In other news, the United States of America Snowboard Association will host a slalom event at Mt. Abram on Jan. 6.

“It’s an event for New England’s best snowboarders,” Rosenberg explained. “There’s a giant slalom race and a normal slalom race. Anybody who wants to race can sign up, starting at 7 a.m.”

Mt. Abram will be shooting off fireworks on New Year’s Eve, beginning at 8 p.m., the general manager said.
