FARMINGTON — SAVES will host a support group for women this winter with meetings held at 6 p.m. Tuesdays starting Jan. 15.
The group, facilitated by Aimee Cecile, M.S.W., will assist in the healing process with talking/listening, art, writing and learning skills to heal emotional pain. Individuals will learn to manage symptoms of traumatic stress by participating in creative activities that will help break the isolation and develop peace within them. No previous art or writing experience is necessary.
“These groups are one of the most important services we offer,” Nick Citriglia, SAVES coordinator, states, “The safe space that can be created within a support group can allow room for tremendous growth, healing and processing.”
This group is free and confidential. For further information or to sign up for this support group, call the SAVES office at 778-9522, send an e-mail to [email protected] or stop into the office at 227 Main St.
For nearly 30 years, SAVES has helped people in Franklin County recover from the trauma of sexual violence. Through school- and community-based programs, SAVES works to educate, raise awareness and prevent sexual violence.
In October 2011, SAVES merged with two sexual assault services agencies in Oxford and Androscoggin counties to create Sexual Assault Prevention and Response Services. The statewide, toll-free, 24-hour helpline is 1-800-871-7741.
