U.S. Rep. Chellie Pingree says the Gym Dandies will ride 6-foot unicycles in formation during the 57th Inaugural Parade.
The Gym Dandies are made up of 41 students ages 8-18 who practice circus arts such as unicycle riding, stilt walking and juggling. Jon Cahill, who founded the group when he was a physical education teacher in 1981 in Scarborough, is the director.
The group has performed at more than 80 schools and in many community events in the New England region.

The Presidential Inaugural Committee has begun sending out invitations to groups nationwide to march behind Obama from his swearing in at the Capitol to the White House on Jan. 21. The first wave selected includes the marching band from Miami University of Ohio, the alma matter of GOP vice presidential nominee Paul Ryan where first lady Michelle Obama spoke during the final weekend of the campaign. Also selected was the Virginia Military Institute that is a traditional performer in inaugural parades. (AP Photo/ Evan Vucci)
