YARMOUTH — Sam Cote notched the game-winning goal as Lewiston garnered a 3-2 victory over Yarmouth in girls’ hockey action Saturday.
The Blue Devils (8-2) scored the first two goals of the contest in a five-goal second period. Sophomore defenseman Mikaela Brown registered a goal and two assists for Lewiston.
The Clippers came back with a pair of goals in the second period to even things up before Cote’s game winner with 59 seconds remaining for Lewiston.
Michaelle Robichaud secured a goal and an assist for Yarmouth.
Boys’ hockey
Skowhegan 5, Poland/Gray-NG 0
GRAY — Trey Michonski scored a pair of goals to lead Skowhegan to a 5-0 shutout over Poland-Gray-New Gloucester in boys’ ice hockey action Saturday.
Camden DesPres and Kyle Demchak scored a goal and an assist each for the Indians (5-0).
Goalie Calvin Shelley made 37 saves for the Patriotic Knights (2-3), while goalie Sam Edmondson prevented all eight shots he faced to earn the shutout in net for Skowhegan.
Maranacook 5, EL 4
AUBURN — Junior forward Dan Condon recorded a hat trick as Maranacook-Winthrop-Hall-Dale edged Edward Little 5-4 in boys’ hockey action Saturday.
The Hawks (3-2-1) scored twice before the Red Eddies (2-3-1) responded over the next period and a half to tie the contest at 2-2.
The third period went back-and-forth until Condon converted a relay from Matt Plourde, who had four assists, for the eventual game-winning goal with 8:09 remaining in regulation. Sophomore forward Branden Dyer provided a goal and an assist for Edward Little. Goalie Zach Gosselin made 22 saves for Edward Little, while goalie Matt Dubois earned the win in net with 12 saves for Maranacook.
Girls’ basketball
Oxford Hills 61, Erskine 25
SOUTH CHINA — Kesley DeBlois and Alex Rowe each scored eight points, and Tianna Sugars had seven and puilled down nine rebounds as Oxford Hills (4-2) rolls to a 61-25 victory over winless Erskine Academy (0-6) in a girls’ basketball game Saturday.
The Vikings quickly took control and easily built a 35-21 lead at halftime.
The Eagles’ Bridget Humphrey was the only double-digit scorer with 12 points.
Leavitt 66, Mt. View 38
TURNER — Kristen Anderson threw in the game-high 22 points and Mariah Treadwell added another 12 points as undefeated Leavitt (7-0) landed on Mt. View with a 66-38 victory in a girls’ basketball game Saturday.
The Hornets were soaring after the first half with 38-23 lead.
Leavitt went onto score another 28 points in the second half.
For Mt. View, Courtney Morse knocked down four 3-pointers for 12 points.
EL 61, Bangor 49
BANGOR — Junior guard Kory Norcross tossed a team-high 15 points to pace Edward Little in a balanced attack as the Red Eddies took a 61-49 victory over Bangor in KVAC girls’ basketball action Saturday.
The Red Eddies (5-1) led 30-24 at the half. Eraleena Hairston registered a double-double with 13 points and 11 rebounds, while Ashlee Arnold contributed 12 points.
Sophomore Mary Butler notched a game-high 18 points for the Rams (5-1), while Denae Johnson and Cordelia Stewart provided 12 and 10 points, respectively.
Edward Little went 9-of-12 from the free-throw line down the stretch.
Mountain Valley 72, Telstar 20
RUMFORD — Senior forward Brooke Dolloff poured in an extravagant 28 points to power Mountain Valley to a 72-20 rout over Telstar in MVC girls’ basketball action Saturday.
The Falcons (2-3) swooped in for a 46-4 lead at the half. Dolloff accumulated 18 steals in the contest.
Freshman forward Tori Ryerson led the Rebels (0-4) with four field goals for eight points.
Boys’ basketball
Mt. Abram 65, Telstar 46
Ian James led all players with 23 points and Calum Dixon added 12 to pace Mt. Abram to a 65-46 victory over Telstar in MVC boys’ basketball action Saturday.
Tristan Dyer also reached double digits with 11 points, while Amos Withee drained three 3-pointers for the Roadrunners (2-5).
Mike Del Duca was the top scoring threat for the Rebels, pouring in 17 points.
Lawrence 67, Mt. Blue 22
LAWRENCE — Spencer Lahay threw in 20 points and hit two 3-pointers as Lawrence overwhelmed Mt. Blue, 67-22, in a boys’ basketball game Saturday.
By halftime, the Bulldogs (4-2) led, 41-17.
For the Cougars (0-5), Brad Durrell scored six points.
