New Year’s party at Eagles
RUMFORD — The Rumford Eagles will hold a New Year’s party in the club’s function hall, with entertainment by Borderline Express. Doors open at 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 31,with the band playing from 9 p.m. to 1 a.m.
There will be party favors and a light meal after the first set. $15 per person, smoke free.
Spurrs Corner food pantry hours
OTISFIELD — The food pantry at Spurrs Corner Church, Route 121, will be open Tuesday, Jan. 1, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Give a pint, get a pound
RUMFORD — The student council at Mountain Valley High School will sponsor a Red Cross blood drive on Tuesday, Jan. 15, from 8:15 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the gym.
Donors are strongly urged to contact the student council or the American Red Cross at 1-800-RED CROSS or www.redcrossblood.org to make an appointment. In the past, the lines have been long and often the Red Cross does not have time for walk-ins.
According to the Red Cross flyer, “All presenting donors from Jan. 1-31 will receive a coupon for a free pound of Dunkin’ Donuts coffee.”
West Paris food pantry
WEST PARIS — The food pantry will be open from 1 to 3 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 1, at West Paris Baptist Church, 15 Church St. The pantry is open the first and third Tuesday of each month.

HARTFORD — The Hartford Community Church Clothing Center will be open Saturday, Jan. 5, and Saturday, Jan. 19, from 1 to 2:30 p.m. The Clothing Center is located directly opposite the church.
All-you-can-eat breakfast Jan. 5
KINGFIELD — A community all-you-can-eat breakfast is being offered Saturday, Jan. 5, from 7:30 to 10 a.m. at the Kingfield United Methodist Church on High Street.
The menu will include homemade sausage gravy with biscuits, pancakes, French toast, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs, home-fries, muffins, coffee and juice. The cost is $5 per person. A discounted rate is available for children.

Pancake breakfast at Senior Center
RUMFORD — A pancake breakfast is planned for Saturday, Jan. 5, from 9 to 11 a.m. at the Rumford Senior Center. The menu will consist of pancakes, bacon and coffee or tea. The cost will be $4.
First Saturday Community Supper
SUMNER — The Congregational Church of East Sumner will hold its monthly 1st Saturday Community Supper at 5:30 p.m. Saturday, Jan. 5.
The meal will be chicken enchiladas, corn bread, desserts and drinks. A donation is requested for the meal. Raffle items will also be available. The church is at 50 Main St., East Sumner.
Mainstream/plus square dance
WILTON — Friendship Squares will host a mainstream/plus square dance from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 6, at the Cushing School. The caller will be Walt Bull and the cuer, Carol Stewart. All are welcome.
Socrates Cafe gathering Jan. 7
WATERFORD — A Socrates Cafe gathering will be held at the Waterford Library on Monday, Jan. 7, from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Meetings are held on the first Monday of each month. The group offers a forum to discuss current topics and ideas in a warm, friendly atmosphere, where divergent views will be welcome. Coffee and light refreshments will be served.
The topic for the January meeting will be “Does The Earth Have Rights?” The moderator is Jim Kearney.

Senior social, luncheon Jan. 8
HARRISON — Harrison Parks and Recreation’s next Senior Social and Luncheon will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at the community room at the fire station. The luncheons are held the first Tuesday of the month, but due to the New Year’s holiday, it was moved for January.
Activities will include socializing, word games, bingo and prizes and a delicious meal featuring spaghetti and meatballs, garden salad, Italian bread, juice and coffee/tea. The cost is $3.
The guest speaker will be Ray Laplante, emergency management director for the Town of Harrison.
If you do not have time for socializing and games, attend just the meal at noon.

Landowner’s forum rescheduled
FARMINGTON — Healthy Community Coalition will host a free landowner’s forum, as part of its Mapping Our Footsteps initiative, on Tuesday, Jan. 15, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. in the Chisholm Room at Franklin Memorial Hospital. The Landowner’s Forum is an opportunity for local landowners and managers to learn more about their rights and responsibilities and the benefits of allowing public use of their lands.
Mark Latti, landowner relations/recreational access coordinator for the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, will speak about landowner liability laws and how local outdoor groups and organizations can work with landowners to allow public use on private land. Attendees will also have an opportunity to learn more about the Mapping Our Footsteps initiative, the website www.mainetrailfinder.com and other resources for sustainable land use.
