Bangor Hydro crews have been dispatched throughout the company’s service territory this evening in response to several reported power outages caused by high winds and wind gusts. Among the areas most affected are East Machias, Lubec, Cutler and Stonington, as well as Hampden and Newburgh.
A total of 3,317 customers are without power, with the majority of outages in Washington County, where wind gusts are upwards of 50 miles per hour. Crews will work throughout the night to restore power, but customers should make arrangements to be without service overnight and plan accordingly.
Customers are reminded to never touch a downed line or a tree in contact with one, and anyone using an alternate heating source during an outage is urged to follow manufacturer guidelines to ensure proper use and safety.
Questions may be directed to Bangor Hydro’s Customer Service Center at 207-947-2414 or 800-444-1111.
