AUBURN — The New High School Steering Committee, which is studying how to build a new or improved Edward Little High School, will meet Thursday.

From 6 to 7 p.m. Feb. 21 the committee will hear from Suzanne Godin, school superintendent in South Portland. South Portland is in the middle of a $47.3 million expansion of its high school, a project funded entirely by local property taxpayers, Auburn Superintendent Katy Grondin said.

Construction on South Portland High School began in June and is expected to be completed in the spring of 2015. The project includes adding learning space, a cafeteria and lecture hall.

After Godin’s presentation, the Auburn steering committee will debate the pros and cons of three options for Edward Little High School previously discussed: renovate the existing building, build a new school on the existing site or build a new school on a new site.

The committee will also talk about how to get feedback from the community before making a recommend to the Auburn School Committee,  Grondin said.

The New High School Steering Committee will meet in Auburn Hall in the council chambers.
