LOVELL — Residents will be asked to approve an expected $1,115,984 budget at the annual town meeting Saturday.
Voters will be asked to act on 88 articles, including electing a selectman, making a recommendation for the appointment of a code enforcement officer and seeing if the town will give town officers a suggested 1.7 percent cost-of-living-allowance raise.
Selectman John Ramsden is running for re-election. He is facing challenger Rose McKenzie, who runs Rosie’s Lovell Village Store and Restaurant. The election is to take place at the town meeting. There will be no absentee ballots.
The town will be asked to nominate and elect members to the Planning Board, Budget Committee and SAD 72 Board of Directors.
Residents will also be asked to amend the zoning ordinance to change setbacks on private ways, now that measurements are taken from the center of the road rather than the edges. The new ordinance would increase the minimum setback from 20 to 50 feet.
The meeting is set for 9 a.m. Saturday, March 2, at the Lovell Town Hall.
