LEWISTON — York got the first one, and the Wildcats threatened to make things interesting in the third period, but Camden Hills was ultimately too much to handle Friday in the teams’ Western Class B semifinal hockey game at the Androscoggin Bank Colisee.

Jack Orne torched the Wildcats for four goals and an assist, Grayson Szumilas added two goals and three assists and Simon Lydon had a goal and three helpers as the Windjammers overcame an early one-goal deficit to post an 8-4 win over York.

The win lifts Camden Hills into the Western Class B final for the first time, where it will face defending regional champion Greely. Faced with a daunting, five-goal deficit to begin the third period, the Wildcats started to chip away. Adam Jannetti scored 2:22 into the final frame to cut the Windjammers’ lead to four, and then he added another at 4:48 to reduce the York deficit to three at 6-3.

But the big three from Camden Hills had enough. Szumilas netted his first goal at the 6:00 mark to put the No. 2 Windjammers (15-4-0) back in front by four with help from Orne. The Wildcats’ Zachary Franklin and Szumilas traded goals late in the frame to cap the scoring. Camden Hills was snakebitten early, with a pair of breakaways that failed to hit the cage.

Shortly afterward, York’s Derek Neal converted on a turnover behind the Windjammers’ cage that popped into the left circle, beating netminder Jet Magri over the glove side shoulder. But Camden Hills responded, quickly and often. James Annis banged home a cross-crease pass from Steve Hand to tie the game at 1-1 at 8:23.

At 10:25, Orne grabbed the puck at the left boards, drifted to the middle of the slot and beat York keeper Jared Posternak 5-hole to put the Windjammers in front to stay with his first of the game. Orne added another 28 seconds later to push the lead to 3-1 after one period, and Lydon added another 1:17 into the second period to push the advantage to three goals. Orne popped in two more before the end of the second frame to put the game essentially out of reach.
