LOVELL — Voters re-elected Selectman John Ramsden and passed a $1.1 million budget Saturday at the annual town meeting.
Ramsden defeated challenger Rose McKenzie, operator of the Lovell Village Store, by a vote of 80-54.
During the three-hour meeting, voters approved the $1,108,594 budget, which was $70,440 more than last year.
Voters also approved appropriating $35,000 for a new dump truck, $17,500 for the recreation department and $43,000 for the maintenance of town grounds and buildings.
In other action on the 88-article warrant, voters OK’d $56,000 for fire department operation, $115,000 for the operation of the waste facility and $145,00 for the care of winter roads and snow plowing.
A total of $100,000 was approved for paving town roads and $39,000 for the town library.
Voters also amended the zoning ordinance to change the setbacks on private ways. The new ordinance increases the minimum setback from 20 feet to 50 feet.
Voters also elected incumbent Kevin McDonald, Pat Williams and Meg Dyer as alternates to the Planning Board.
Charlie Fowlie will fill a term on the Budget Committee that expires in 2017. Allie Foster and Rob Drew were also elected to the Budget Committee. Jane Williams was elected to the one-year alternate position on the SAD 72 Board of Directors.
