KINGFIELD — Selectmen on Monday turned responsibility for the final application details on a $440,000 sewer system upgrade to grant writer Rodney Lynch.

Lynch, in turn, thanked wastewater system supervisor Bryan Fitch, Selectman Heather Moody and the town’s new administrative assistant, Leanna Ross Targett, who have helped complete the complex and detailed paperwork for the Community Development Block Grant.

“This was a team effort,” Lynch said.

Selectmen also have held two public hearings and conducted an income survey, reviewed construction proposals and equipment replacement options through Main-Land Development Consultants’ engineer Tom Dubois.

“We’re applying for $440,000 to update the sewer system,” Lynch said. “This includes costs for safety improvements, lifting the pump control station above flood elevation, buying a new pumper truck and diesel generator.”

Ultimately, he said, the entire wastewater system will be repaired and upgraded.

Selectmen will begin reviewing resumes to hire someone to fill the combined deputy tax collector and treasurer position. They set a March 8 deadline for all applicants. More than a dozen candidates have applied, according to Targett.

In other news, Moody announced that Jack McKee resigned from the Budget Committee and Chuck Twitchell resigned from the Planning Board. Selectmen hope to have candidates for both positions contact the town office.
