AUBURN — A Turner man convicted in one of the worst poaching cases in Maine was indicted Wednesday by an Androscoggin County grand jury on theft, burglary and other charges stemming from a complaint in Livermore.

Police said Carlton “John” Enos, 21, of 157 White Birch Drive burgled the home of a Livermore man on March 30.

On that day, police said, Enos stole more than $1,000 worth of items from Robert Bryant, including jewelry, tools, money and alcohol.

Enos also broke a door and door frame at that home, police said.

On April 14, a television, computer monitor, jewelry box and jewelry were stolen from the home of Robert Deshaies in Livermore, police said.

Enos was issued a summons for the charges.

He was a member of a group of hunters centered in Turner, who amassed a deer kill of eight in Maine and 30 in Pennsylvania in 2010. The poaching spree was the subject of a four-month investigation by the Maine Warden Service and U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

The hunters involved, including Enos, were charged in both states with multiple hunting violations.

Enos pleaded guilty to five charges in Maine, was sentenced to seven days in jail and fined nearly $5,000.
