TEMPLE — Residents at Monday’s town meeting elected a new selectmen and raised money for a property revaluation.
Nominated from the floor, Michelle Clark was elected to the Board of Selectmen when Kathy Lynch decided not to run again.
After six years and previous service on the board in the 1970s, Lynch said Tuesday that she enjoyed it but found she had too many demands on her time to continue.
Clark has served on the Road Committee that was created at last year’s town meeting, she said.
Voters raised $30,000 to complete the town revaluation, Lynch said.
Last year $25,000 was raised to begin the work. Selectmen read a letter from John E. O’Donnell of New Gloucester whose firm is handling the revaluation, and discussed the progress.
O’Donnell said they have almost completed the initial survey, listing and measuring houses. They are also working on a pricing schedule.
Barring complications, the work is expected to be completed by July with meetings and conferences with property owners scheduled during June to explain their revaluation.
The firm recently completed a revaluation in Weld.
In other business, an article asked townspeople to approve naming a hill off the Day Mountain Road. Marc Maria of Rhode Island, who owns the property on the privately owned Swan Road, asked the United States Geological Survey to name the hill on his property Patriot’s Peak, Lynch said.
USGS wrote seeking the selectmen’s approval but the board needed to bring it before the town meeting.
Voters approved.
All 52 articles passed.
