An Auburn man pleaded guilty Tuesday to a robbery charge stemming from the theft of oxycodone from a drug store in Augusta.
Anthony William Post, 19, who had lived in Auburn, robbed a CVS pharmacy on Jan. 22. He handed a pharmacy technician a note that read: “Quickly and calmly put all oxycodone in bag. If not, I have a gun and will start shooting. No Scene!” a spokesman for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in Portland said.
The technician gave Post several bottles containing $500 worth of oxycodone before he fled. He didn’t have or use a firearm.
After the robbery, Post’s photo appeared in the news and several witnesses identified him, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office.
Two days after the robbery, detectives at the Augusta Police Department arrested Post in Augusta and turned him over to special agents at the FBI for prosecution.
Post faces a sentence of up to 20 years in prison and a fine of up to $250,000, plus possible restitution. He has been in federal custody since his arrest. He’s expected to be sentenced after the completion of a presentence investigation report by the U.S. Probation Office.
U.S. Attorney Thomas E. DelahantyII praised the Augusta Police Department and the FBI for their cooperation during their joint investigation.
