FARMINGTON — A Franklin County jury has found Shari Dupree, 32, of Wilton and Brian Sweeney, 32, of Rumford not guilty Thursday morning of aggravated assault in an April 3, 2012 ax attack.
The jury also found Dupree not guilty of two counts of misdemeanor assault, one against Jeremiah Gattis and one against Stephanie Buzzell.
The Farmington couple testified that they were attacked by both Dupree and Sweeney with an ax and a meat cleaver in a late evening attack at their residence on Poverty Lane.
The jury deadlocked on the two misdemeanor charges of misdemeanor assault in Sweeney’s case.
Justice Michaela Murphy declared it a hung jury on those charges.
The state will decide if they want to retry the lesser charges against Sweeney.
In the meantime, he was released on $500 cash bail.
