Otisfield churches

OTISFIELD — Palm Sunday services on March 24 will be held in the churches at the usual times.

Maundy Thursday service, on March 28, will be held at 7 p.m. at Spurr’s Corner Church, led by Pastor Rick Mowery. The church is located on Route 121. All are welcome.

Good Friday service, on March 29 will be held at 7 p.m. at East Otisfield Free Baptist Church, led by the Rev. Genise Stern. The church is located at 231 Rayville Road. All are welcome.

On Easter Sunday, March 31, the sunrise service will be held at 6 a.m. at the Community of the Resurrection, led by Sister Renata. The Community of the Resurrection is located on Poplar Ridge Road. People from the congregations of the churches mentioned above will attend and all who wish to attend are welcome also.

A Resurrection Breakfast will follow the sunrise service from 7:30 to 9 a.m. at Spurr’s Corner Church. All are welcome.

Easter services will be held at each church at the regular times and all are welcome.

Trinity Lutheran Church

PARIS —Trinity Lutheran Church, 34 Buckfied Road, announces its Holy Week schedule.

Palm Sunday worship will be held at 10:15 a.m. March 24. The procession with palms will be followed by the Passion Reading and Holy Communion.

On March 28, Maundy Thursday, there will be a potluck supper at 6 p.m. followed by Holy Communion. The evening will end with preparing the sanctuary for Good Friday.

On March 29 the annual Good Friday Walk with the Cross will be held, beginning at the Universalist Church, Main Street, Norway, and ending at Trinity Lutheran. On Good Friday the Tennebrae service will begin at 7 p.m.

Easter Sunday, March 31, will begin with breakfast from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. Reservations are requested. The Resurrection Celebration will begin at 10:15 a.m. All are welcome.

Holy Family Church

LEWISTON — Mary’s Way of the Cross Living Stations will be held at 6:15 p.m. Palm Sunday, March 24, at Holy Family Hall, 607 Sabattus St. Prince of Peace Youth Ministry will hold the Mary’s Way of the Cross Living Stations downstairs in the church hall following the 5 p.m. Mass. Everyone is welcome.

Oxford Advent Christian Church

OXFORD — The Oxford Advent Christian Church announces its Easter week schedule of services.

A Maundy Thursday Seder will be hosted at 7 p.m. Thursday, March 28, at the church on Route 26.  Communion will be served.

On Friday, March 29, at 1 p.m. the annual Walk of the Cross will take place starting at the Universalist Church on Main Street in Norway.

Later that day, a Community Good Friday Service will be held at 7 p.m. at Oxford Advent Christian Church. 

On Easter Sunday, March 31, a SONrise service will take place at 6:15 a.m. at 40 Allen Hill Road, Oxford, followed by breakfast at the church. If it is raining, the service will be held at the church.

Easter worship is at 10 a.m. and will feature special music by youth and adult choirs.

Phillips Community Church

PHILLIPS — Phillips Community Church, UCC, Easter Week services are announced.

On March 24,  a Palm Sunday service and distribution of palms will be held at 11 a.m.

A Maundy Thursday service will be held at 5:30 p.m. March 28 at the Community House, with a light meal.

A Good Friday Prayer Vigil will be held at the at the church from 6 to 10 p.m. March 29.

An Easter Sunrise Service will take place at 6:20 a.m. March 31 in the Haines’ yard on Route 4. At 11 a.m. there will be Easter worship at the church.

First Universalist Church

PARIS — The Palm Sunday service at the First Universalist Church on Pine Street will be led by Silver Moore-Leamon.  The title of the 10 a.m. worship service is “Palm Fronds into Pine Boughs.”  

Music is under the direction of Donna Hurd and Sunday school is under the direction of Renee Wales.  Fellowship and coffee will follow the service.  All are welcome and childcare is available.  The First Universalist Church is wheelchair accessible.

Oxford County United Parish

WATERFORD — The Rev. Doretta Colburn invites all members and friends of the Oxford County United Parish churches in North Waterford and Stoneham to join in services for Holy Week, beginning with a Palm Sunday worship service at 10 a.m. March 24 at the North Waterford Congregational Church, Five Kezars Road.

On Sunday, March 31, an Easter Sunrise Service will be jointly celebrated with Waterford Congregational Church at 6:30 a.m. at Keoka Lake town beach, followed by Easter breakfast at the Wilkins House. The Easter Sunday worship service will be held at 10 a.m. at the North Waterford Church.

St. Luke’s Episcopal Church

WILTON — St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 59 High St., announces the Holy Week schedule and Easter Bread Bake Sale.

at 9:30 a.m. Palm Sunday, March 24, congregants will enact Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem with the blessing of the palms and a procession. During the liturgy the story of Jesus’ passion will be read followed by Holy Communion.

At 7 p.m. March 28, Maundy Thursday, congregants will recall Jesus’ act of humility at the Last Supper through a foot washing. After Holy Communion the church will be darkened in preparation for Good Friday.

At noon on Good Friday, March 29, a Farmington Ecumenical Service will take place at Henderson Memorial Baptist Church.

At 7 p.m. on Good Friday, a Wilton Ecumenical Good Friday Service will be held at Dryden Baptist Church.

An Easter Bread Sale will be held from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, March 30, in St. Luke’s Church undercroft. The Episcopal Church Women are sponsoring the sale, and pre-orders may be called into the church office at 645-2639.

The Great Vigil of Easter will take place at 8 p.m. Saturday, March 30. Beginning in a darkened church the Vigil will celebrate Christ’s resurrection through light, scripture, Easter hymns, renewal of baptismal vows and Holy Communion.

Farmington Ecumenical Easter Sunrise Service will be held at 5:30 a.m. March 31 at Voter Hill, Farmington. Muffins and beverages will be available after the service.

An Easter Festival Eucharist will be held at 9:30 a.m. March 31. An Easter Egg Hunt will be held for the children and the Easter Bake Sale will follow worship.

Shorey Chapel

INDUSTRY — A Maundy Thursday service will begin at 6 p.m. March 28 at Shorey Chapel, 1109 Industry Road, with a Seder and potluck meal in the vestry followed by the Tenebrae service in the sanctuary at 7 p.m.

Rumford, Mexico churches

RUMFORD — The Rumford United Methodist Church and the Mexico UCC Church (Green Church) will hold joint services during Holy Week.

The Maundy Thursday communion service will be held at 7 p.m. March 28 at the Mexico church, Main Street. The Good Friday service will be held at 7 p.m. March 29 at the Rumford chapel, Linnell Street.

East Sumner Congregational Church

SUMNER —  The Congregational Church of East Sumner, 50 Main St.,  will hold a Maundy Thursday service at 7: p.m. March 28. A  Good Friday Prayer Vigil will take place at 5:30 p.m. and a service at 6:30 p.m.

An Easter Egg Hunt for area children, sponsored by the Sumner Mothers’ Club, will take place from 10 a.m. to noon at the church.  Easter Sunrise Service will be held at 7 a.m. followed by a breakfast at 8 and worship at 9 with coffee hour following. For more information, call 388-2610.

New Gloucester Bible Church

NEW GLOUCESTER — New Gloucester Bible Church will hold the following special services:

Good Friday Service March 29 at 7:30 p.m. at the church, Route 100. All are welcome.

Easter Sunrise Service will take place March 31 at 6:30 a.m. across the street at the cemetery. All are welcome. The church will hold its Easter Service at 10:30 a.m. The church provides nursery and junior church. All are welcome.

Hartford Community Church

HARTFORD — There will be an Easter Sunrise Service at 7 a.m. March 31 at the Hartford Community Church, 387 Church St., followed by a gathering for an old-fashioned country breakfast at the Hartford Town Hall, Route 140, at 8 a.m.  All are welcome.

Norway Unitarian Universalist Church

NORWAY — The Rev. Fayre Stephenson will speak on “Easter Hope and Renewal” at the 11 a.m. Easter Sunday Service on March 31 at the Norway Unitarian Universalist Church, 479 Main St.

Religious education and childcare are provided and a social hour follows the service. All are welcome.

Locke Mills Union Church

LOCKE MILLS — The Locke Mills Union Church will have a sunrise service on Easter Sunday, March 31. followed by breakfast. A regular service will be held at 9 a.m. with special music. Everyone is welcome.

United Parish-Congregational Church   

BRIDGTON — The United Parish-Congregational Church of Harrison and North Bridgton will worship for the first time at its own church, since the Sept. 1 fire, at 10 a.m. Sunday, March 31.
