PORTLAND — Closed-door plea negotiations have resumed for a fitness instructor accused of using her Zumba dance studio as a front for prostitution in Kennebunk.

The defense and prosecutors resumed a settlement conference Friday after a first round of discussions failed to produce a plea agreement earlier this month.

Alexis Wright is accused of conspiring with insurance agent Mark Strong Sr. to run a prostitution business in which she videotaped clients without their knowledge and made $150,000 over an 18-month period.

Strong was convicted of 13 counts and is serving a 20-day jail sentence.

The 30-year-old Wright is due to stand trial in May if there’s no agreement. She faces 106 counts including prostitution, invasion of privacy, tax offenses and welfare fraud.
