NEW GLOUCESTER — The New England office of Burns & McDonnell has hired Richard Brophy as a site safety specialist. Brophy joins the firm’s Maine team in New Gloucester.

Brophy, of Old Orchard Beach, will work on the Maine Power Reliability Program, the largest construction project in Maine’s history. Burns & McDonnell serves as program manager on the electric infrastructure improvements project.

Previously, Brophy worked for NRG Companies, one of the country’s largest power generation and retail electric businesses, as regional safety manager. He brings nearly 25 years of experience to Burns & McDonnell.

In his new role, Brophy will provide daily inspections of various job sites to assure that work site safety is in compliance. He will also act as a safety adviser for operational issues and participate in work-planning activities to proactively discuss with crew members the hazards and risks associated with each activity.

Originally from Lisbon, Conn., Brophy graduated with a bachelors degree from St. Anselm College and obtained a masters degree from UMass Lowell.
