AUGUSTA (AP) — Two Waterville men convicted of robbing a pharmacy in town last August have each been sentenced to 2 ½ years in prison.

Authorities said 35-year-old Lance Vashon of Benton, and 34-year-old Nicholas Hunter of Waterville, were sentenced last week in Kennebec County Superior Court to seven years in prison, with all but 2 ½ months suspended, and three years of probation.

Police said the men did not display a weapon, but handed the pharmacy clerk a threatening note, demanding OxyContin, during the robbery last August at a Rite Aid pharmacy.

The Kennebec Journal reported that both men were caught within minutes of the robbery and the drugs were recovered because pharmacy staff thought the men looked suspicious and called police as soon as they entered the store.
