LEWISTON – A pair of Auburn women were arrested on drug charges late Thursday after state police and drug agents searched a Bartlett Street apartment house.
Maine Drug Enforcement agents arrested Barbara Allison, 54, and Ashley Lumpkin, 29, in the parking lot of the building at 174 Bartlett St.
Investigators said the women were found carrying 30 grams of crack when they were stopped by police.
Agents then obtained search warrants for an apartment in the building as well as several vehicles in the parking lot. There, police said agents and officers seized an additional eight grams of crack cocaine, scales, packaging materials, two loaded handguns and $6,000 in cash.
Allison and Lumpkin were charged with aggravated trafficking in crack cocaine, police said, because the offense took place within 1,000 feet of the Longley Elementary School.
They were being held Friday at the Androscoggin County Jail in Auburn where bail was set at $5000 each.
MDEA officials said the investigation continues and more arrests are likely.
