SALEM TOWNSHIP — Holland Corson of Kingfield, a senior at Mt. Abram High School, has been selected to receive the 2013 Principal’s Award. The award, sponsored by the Maine Principals’ Association, is given in recognition of a high school senior’s academic achievement and citizenship.
Holland is a model student at Mt. Abram High School. She works hard to meet the high demands of her course work, volunteers to support her community and is active in the clubs and organizations at school. Corson has been accepted and will attend Central Maine Community College majoring in English. Ultimately, she wants to get her master’s degree in library science.
Corson and Principal Marco Aliberti joined the other award winners and their principals at an Honors Luncheon at the Spectacular Event Center in Bangor on April 6.
The Honors Luncheon recognizes these outstanding students with the presentation of an individual plaque and the awarding of five $1,000 scholarships in the names of Horace O. McGowan and Richard W. Tyler, who were former Maine principals and executive directors of the association.
