PARIS – Fashion design students of Oxford Hills Technical School will showcase their designs on a Paris runway during the 10th annual show early next month.
It will be held at 7 p.m. May 3 in the Mark S. Eastman Auditorium at the Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School.
Lori Millett, the computer-assisted design fashion design instructor, said in a statement, “The workroom is very busy. The students are completing their projects and coordinating their looks. The variety of fabrics and colors is fun. It reminds me of wrapping paper.”
Students in the fashion design program must apply for it. They learn the basics of garment design and prepare pieces for an end-of-year show.
Over the years, designs have included everything from simple red dresses to purple sequined cocktail dresses, tank tops and skirts. Designs cover all ages. Models include students, family members and even some of the Early Childhood Education program students such as those who modeled young designs last year.
Millett said work is starting on the show set and students are getting excited. “It’s getting real for them. I think we will have a great show this year. I hope everyone will come and celebrate with us.”
Admission is $4. Ages 12 and under and 65 and older are free. Proceeds help fund class projects and next year’s show. Refreshments will be served and donations will be accepted.
