FARMINGTON — Detective Marc Bowering and the state medical examiner have identified two people found dead Monday morning at Maple Avenue.
A statement from Farmington Deputy Chief Shane Cote identified the victims as Lawrence “Larry” Decker, 58, and Nikole Dolloff, 21, of Burnham.
The cause of death for both victims was suicide, Cote said.
Decker lived alone, according to the statement. He and Dolloff were Facebook friends, but the nature of that friendship was not immediately clear. Dolloff at one time attended Maine Central Institute in Pittsfield, near her hometown. She has family in Winslow.
Police said they were called to 202 Maple Ave. shortly after 1 a.m. Monday to investigate a possible suicidal person. They found a man and woman dead.
Decker, an electrician at the the University of Maine at Farmington, grew up in the house, according to neighbor Ann Bryant, who is also a Sun Journal reporter. He had moved away but returned after his mother died, she said.
“I’ve known him all my life,” she said. “Larry has always been a nice, quiet man, very gentle.”
