POLAND — Kevin Mitchell, a lifelong runner and a track coach at Poland Regional High School for three years, ran the school track Tuesday night in memory of those who died in the Boston Marathon bombings.
Mitchell, who got the idea from the USA Track and Field website, announced he would run 3 miles around the dark track in memory of those who were killed at the Monday race.
Putting an invitation out to his friends on Facebook, Mitchell said, “Honestly, I have no idea how many people will show up.” He made his plans late but said he was encouraged by the number of “likes” his post had been getting.
Mitchell planned to pause for a moment of silence when he finished his first mile.
