BETHEL — Sadie Ellsworth scored the game-winning run when Taylor Savage hit a triple into the gap for Telstar in a 3-2 eight-inning contest over Winthrop in MVC softball action Friday.
Pitcher Jessie Dirago struck out 14 for the Rebels, while Krissy Doughty fanned nine for the Ramblers (1-1) in what was a classic pitcher’s duel over the first six scoreless innings.

Dirigo 4, Hall-Dale 0
DIXFIELD — Tasha DeRoche had two hits and an RBI to lead Dirigo to a 4-0 victory over Hall-Dale in MVC softball action Friday.
The Cougars (3-0) lit up the board early with a pair of runs in the first inning. DeRoche collected a single, double and an RBI for Dirigo.
The Bulldogs (1-2) pitcher, Olivia Maynard, gave up seven hits and one walk while striking out five..
Maynard tried to help her own cause with a single, while Eva Shepherd had the only other base hit for Hall-Dale.
Greely 6, Poland 1
POLAND — Greely scored three runs in each of the third and seventh innings to record a 6-1 victory over Poland in WMC softball action Friday.
Elyse Dinan smashed a double and three-run homer to provide the Rangers (3-1) with four RBIs.
Dani Cimino fanned nine batters to earn the mound win for Greely.
The Knights (2-3) trailed by only one hit as Greely outpaced Poland 4-3 in the category. But Poland was plagued by an 8-1 deficit in costly errors.
Cony 4, Oxford Hills 3
AUGUSTA — Veronica Wood singled in the walk-off winning run in the eighth inning as Cony dumped Oxford Hills 4-3 in KVAC softball action Friday.
Vikings’ (4-1) right fielder Angel Witham prevented the winning run from crossing the plate in the seventh inning with a nifty catch that stranded a runner at third base.
But the Rams (4-0) came back with a runner courtesy of an error to start the home half of the eighth.
Following a bunt single, Wood plated the game-winner with a single that ricocheted off the pitcher’s foot.
Cony starting pitcher Sonja Morse struck out seven of the first nine batters she faced.
Mountain Valley 12, Monmouth 4
MONMOUTH — Brooke Dolloff went 4-for-5 to lead Mountain Valley to a 12-4 rout over Monmouth in softball action Friday.
The Falcons shot ahead with five runs in the top of the seventh inning. Shannon Laubouskas also had a fine day at the plate with three hits in the winning effort.
Lauren Chase was the only repeat hitter for the Mustangs with a pair of singles.
Lindsay Marston earned the mound win for the Falcons.
Mt. Ararat 15, Lewiston 5
LEWISTON — Taylor Pare had five hits, including a triple and two home runs, helping to power Mt. Ararat to a 15-5 win over Lewiston in KVAC softball action Friday.
Kim Leslie pitched all seven innings for the Eagles (2-3), allowing just three earned runs with two strikeouts in the victory.
Maegan Mathon paced the Blue Devils (0-5) with three hits, including a double and a triple.
Fryeburg 13, Lake Region 0
FRYEBURG — Pitcher Sarah Harriman punched out a two-run double in a 10-run first inning, and Sydney Charles smacked a two-run single as Fryeburg Academy mopped up Lake Region, 13-0, in a five-inning softball game Friday.
Lake Region issued 10 walks in the first inning as the Raiders sent 16 hitters to plate. Kylie Locke belted an RBI double in the third while Charles had an RBI single. Harriman had nine strikeouts.
Karlor Plummer had the lone Laker hit.
Oak Hill 16, Carrabec 3
NORTH ANSON — Kelsey Collins went for 4-for-5 and had four RBIs, and Brooke Lebel had a bases-clearing double in the seventh inning as Oak Hill battered Carrabec 16-3 in a softball game Friday.
The Raiders erupted with 10 runs in the seventh inning. Kortni Michaud came in the second inning for the Raiders and struck out nine batters.
For Carrabec, Brookelynne Lewis singled and tripled.
Winslow 9, Leavitt 2
TURNER — Ali Leclair had three hits and three RBIs and Brooke Haskell doubled as Winslow overpowered Leavitt with a 9-2 victory in a softball game Friday.
Winslow erupted with four runs in the first inning and set the tone of the game. Megan Richards got the win on the mound
Sarah Pare had a single and RBI.
Edward Little 20, Brunswick 1
BRUNSWICK — Kory Norcross had three hits and winning pitcher Molly Murray struck out six batters as Edward Little used 11 hits and bounced Brunswick with a 20-1 victory in a softball game Friday.
The Red Eddies (2-2) jumped out to a 9-0 lead after the second inning and eventually capitalized on the Dragons’ nine whopping errors.
Kennedy Hubbard, Danielle Rock and Karli Stubbs had two hits
