WILTON — Police were headed to New Hampshire on Friday to continue investigating the theft of some older-style jewelry from a residence on Route 2.

Police had put out an alert to other law enforcement agencies about a theft reported Thursday, with a description of a vehicle that had New Hampshire plates.

The jewelry is believed to have been taken by an acquaintance of the residents, Chief Heidi Wilcox said.

Officer Derek Daley described four pieces of jewelry stolen. One was an 18-carat, thick gold chain rope necklace with a light purple and pink angel that changes color and has a hole in the back of it, he said Friday.

Also taken were two ivory rings with pirate ships sketched in black on the front, he said.

The last piece was a necklace with a heart locket that opened and had two pictures inside. One was of a woman with black hair and dark glasses. The other was a man with a bow tie and shirt. It was engraved with stars and a had a small diamond on the front, he said.

No estimate of the value of the jewelry was available.

Daley and Detective Tom White of the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department were en route midday to New Hampshire after the car that was believed to be involved was located, Wilcox said.
