LIVERMORE FALLS — Town Manager Kristal Flagg said she received a call Tuesday from a representative of Verso Paper Corp. saying the Jay company will pay for the liability insurance so the Memorial Day Parade can go on.
The parade was in jeopardy of not happening this year if a rider for insurance was not purchased to cover bystanders and volunteers.
Livermore Falls selectmen voted to pay for the town’s share of the cost — about $600 — on Monday night. Residents were going to go to town officials in Jay and Livermore to see if they could get the remainder of the money.
The town’s liability insurance would only cover an event that was being held on town property, Flagg told selectmen at Monday’s meeting. The American Legion’s insurance would only cover its members, she said.
Verso Paper called Tuesday morning to tell Flagg they would pay for the insurance, she said.
