FARMINGTON — Franklin County commissioners will take a road trip Saturday, May 11, to view county roads.
Commissioners plan to start their annual trip at 7 a.m. with Road Agent Jerry Haines to get a look at road conditions and see what work Haines proposed to be done to improve them.
The county had a road management survey done in December, which determined that about $3.1 million in roadwork needs to be done in the Unorganized Territory.
Commissioners added $300,000 to the Unorganized Territory paving reserve, which covers paving and major work, to the $150,000 initially proposed by Haines for 2013-14.
If the state approves the Unorganized Territory budget, it will give the county about $658,325 in reserve to do roadwork. It was unknown Thursday if the state had approved the additional money for the new fiscal year.
The budget also appropriates $186,407 for roads and bridges included in the regular operating budget.
