LISBON — A Lisbon driver and his two passengers escaped apparent injury in a 4:45 p.m. crash Saturday when the car he was driving struck and snapped a utility pole on Route 196, pulling live wires onto the car.

Lisbon Police Sgt. Scott Stewart said Mark Tripp, 58, was driving west near Good Time Lanes bowling alley when he lost control of his car, crossed the eastbound lane and struck the utility pole. Because of the live wires on the car, Tripp and his passengers remained in the vehicle until the power was cut, Stewart said.

The road was closed to through traffic and reopened at 5:30 p.m., Stewart said, adding that Tripp’s 2006 Pontiac was demolished.
