RANGELEY — Recovery efforts resumed on Tuesday for the bodies of two men presumed to be in Rangeley Lake.

Doug Rafferty, spokesman for the Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife, said Tuesday that game wardens are utilizing sonar equipment to search for Kenneth Henderson, 40, of China and John Spencer, 41, of Litchfield.

The body of Glenn Henderson, 43, of Sabattus was discovered on Friday.

Rafferty said officials are hoping to identify targets on Tuesday, but it’s unlikely any wardens will enter the water.

“It will probably be (Wednesday) before any divers can take to the water,” he said. “We’ve got to come up with some targets to investigate first.”

After Henderson’s body was discovered Friday, search efforts were halted over the weekend due to stormy weather conditions. Windy conditions on Monday also hindered search efforts.

“The wind’s a little bit calmer, so the sonar will be working,” Rafferty said.

Spencer and Henderson have been missing since their snowmobiles plunged into Rangeley Lake on New Year’s Eve.
