WILTON — The Planning Board will hold a public hearing on the proposed Cottages at Wilson Lake when they meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 16, at the town office.
The proposed seven-lot subdivision is next to the golf course on Country Club Road. Jeff Harris of Harris Golf began the permitting process for the project in March.
Several residents came to the March meeting to listen to plans introduced by engineers from Main-Land Development Consultants in Livermore Falls, Code Enforcement Officer Paul Montague said.
A walk through the property during an April board meeting was well-attended. People just seemed to want to know what’s going on, he said.
There was some discussion about road width. The plan proposes adding seven houses to a fairly small road.
According to the town’s plan, a subdivision road needs to be 20 feet wide if it serves more than two homes, Montague said. The road under consideration is only 15 feet wide.
There was concern about providing a turnaround for emergency and construction vehicles, he said.
The proposed cottages will each have a septic system, so they could be used as year-round homes.
Initially, Harris indicated interest in building the cottages. The town has not received any more information about construction, he said.
The board will also review a proposed dam construction project on Dakin Road if the Army Corp of Engineers weigh in on their regulations before Thursday.
Derrick Thibodeault of Parsonsfield has submitted an application for construction of a dam to create a pond, he said.
He had a pond, but the dam blew out during Tropical Storm Irene, Montague said. Dakin Road is located off Tobin Flat Road, which is off Weld Road.
The Department of Environmental Protection has given its approval. The town now needs to hear from the Army Corp of Engineers, which is in charge of water-control constructions.
