Rangeley Fire and Rescue recently presented awards to NorthStar employees. They included, from left, Harold Schaetzle, EMT-1; Steve Grant, driver; and Jeremy O’Neil, paramedic. Schaetzle, NorthStar base supervisor, received an appreciation award from Rangeley Fire Chief Tim Pellerin for NorthStar’s outstanding assistance in the day-to-day operations of the Rangeley Fire Department. Grant received the 2012 Unit Citation for NorthStar 61 for outstanding assistance with a rescue call 64 miles from the Rangeley base to Caribou Island at Parmachenee Lake. And O’Neil received the 2012 Unit Citation Award while on duty with NorthStar 61, “for exceptional service that merits recognition.” NorthStar is the regional ambulance service for Greater Franklin County. It has four other bases in Carrabassett Valley, Phillips, Farmington and Livermore. NorthStar is a program of Franklin Memorial Hospital.
