LEWISTON — Women, Work and Community is offering a free, eight-week training class, Creating Your Future — Career Planning for the New Economy.

Participants will explore their values and interests, uncover their transferable skills, and develop concrete steps to move ahead in their work lives. Locally growing job sectors will be explored with the purpose of identifying the skills, education and/or training needed to launch a new career or find the right job. Assistance with resume building and job seeking will also be provided.

The class will be held from 9 a.m. to noon on Mondays and Thursdays beginning July 15 and ending Aug. 8 at USM-LAC in Lewiston. There will be an orientation from 9 to 11 a.m. Thursday, July 1.

Class dates are July 15, 18, 22, 25 and 29, and Aug. 1, 5 and 8.

Note that for unemployment insurance recipients, this class has been preapproved by the UI Commission and exempts training participants from a job search during the class.
